China Urges Netherlands to Resolve Nexperia Chip Dispute Impacting Auto Production
Beijing has demanded swift action from The Hague to address export restrictions on Nexperia semiconductors, which have disrupted European automotive supply chains since October 4. The Dutch government placed the Chinese-owned chipmaker under state supervision in September, citing risks of production relocation to China.
Temporary export permits are now being issued selectively to automakers as direct negotiations commence between Chinese and Dutch trade officials. Nexperia's basic semiconductors remain critical for vehicle electrical systems, though the company operates at mature technology nodes rather than cutting-edge processes.
